Frequently Asked Questions

Membership, Events, Sponsorships & More— Explained

Here are the most frequently asked questions to help you get started.

What is NETECH?

NETECH (New England Tech Hub) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing technology education, workforce development, and regional collaboration across New England. We connect professionals, students, organizations, and educators through events, learning programs, and community engagement.

Why did MTUG rebrand to NETECH?

The rebrand from MTUG (Maine Technology Users Group) to NETECH reflects our expanded mission and regional focus. While MTUG served Maine for over 30 years, NETECH builds on that foundation to serve the broader New England tech ecosystem, with a stronger emphasis on education, inclusion, and collaboration.

Who can join NETECH?

Anyone with an interest in technology is welcome to join — including professionals, students, educators, business leaders, and public-sector staff. Membership is open to individuals and organizations across all sectors and levels of experience.

How much does membership cost?
  • Students: Free
  • Individual Members: Free during our first year, then $50 annually
  • Organizational Memberships: Coming soon — stay tuned for tiered options based on size and benefits.
What types of programs does NETECH offer?

We offer a growing range of programs including tech meetups, certification prep courses, webinars, professional development workshops, networking events, and an annual regional conference. Many programs are free or discounted for members.

Are all of your programs listed on the site?

Not yet — we’re currently finalizing our initial programming, which will be published soon. New programs will continue to be added throughout the year, so check back regularly or subscribe to our newsletter for updates.

How can I get involved as a volunteer or speaker?

We’re always looking for passionate contributors! Visit the Get Involved page on our website and submit a form indicating your area of interest — whether it’s volunteering, speaking, mentoring, or joining a committee. A member of our team will follow up with next steps.

Is NETECH a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization?

NETECH is currently seeking 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. Until our application is approved, donations are not tax-deductible. We will update our community once our status is finalized.

How is NETECH funded?

We are supported through sponsorships, grants, event revenue, and individual contributions. All revenue directly supports our mission to expand access to technology education and community-building programs across New England.

Can companies or organizations sponsor NETECH?

Yes! Sponsorships are a great way to support our mission while gaining visibility in the regional tech community. We offer annual sponsorship packages and event-specific opportunities that align with nonprofit guidelines.

How do I become a member?

You can join NETECH by visiting our website and signing up under the Membership section. It takes just a few minutes, and you’ll get access to exclusive content, discounts, and early registration for events.

Where can I find a calendar of upcoming events?

Visit the Events section of our website for a full list of upcoming programs. You can also subscribe to our newsletter or follow us on social media for updates.

Does NETECH offer training or certifications?

Yes, we are building partnerships to offer affordable access to professional certifications, continuing education, and industry-recognized credentials. Details will be available as programs launch.

Can NETECH help me connect with others in the tech field?

Absolutely. Whether you’re new to tech or a seasoned professional, our events and community platform are designed to foster meaningful connections, mentorship, and collaboration across the region.

Does NETECH offer coaching or mentorship opportunities?

Yes. NETECH is developing coaching and mentorship programs to support individuals at all stages of their tech journey. These initiatives aim to provide guidance, peer learning, and professional development through structured and informal relationships.
