What is NETECH?

NETECH (New England Tech Hub) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing technology education, workforce development, and regional collaboration across New England. We connect professionals, students, organizations, and educators through events, learning programs, and community engagement.

Who can join NETECH?

Anyone with an interest in technology is welcome to join — including professionals, students, educators, business leaders, and public-sector staff. Membership is open to individuals and organizations across all sectors and levels of experience.

What types of programs does NETECH offer?

We offer a growing range of programs including tech meetups, certification prep courses, webinars, professional development workshops, networking events, and an annual regional conference. Many programs are free or discounted for members.

How can I get involved as a volunteer or speaker?

We’re always looking for passionate contributors! Visit the Get Involved page on our website and submit a form indicating your area of interest — whether it’s volunteering, speaking, mentoring, or joining a committee. A member of our team will follow up with next steps.

How is NETECH funded?

We are supported through sponsorships, grants, event revenue, and individual contributions. All revenue directly supports our mission to expand access to technology education and community-building programs across New England.

How do I become a member?

You can join NETECH by visiting our website and signing up under the Membership section. It takes just a few minutes, and you’ll get access to exclusive content, discounts, and early registration for events.

Does NETECH offer training or certifications?

Yes, we are building partnerships to offer affordable access to professional certifications, continuing education, and industry-recognized credentials. Details will be available as programs launch.

Does NETECH offer coaching or mentorship opportunities?

Yes. NETECH is developing coaching and mentorship programs to support individuals at all stages of their tech journey. These initiatives aim to provide guidance, peer learning, and professional development through structured and informal relationships.

Why did MTUG rebrand to NETECH?

The rebrand from MTUG (Maine Technology Users Group) to NETECH reflects our expanded mission and regional focus. While MTUG served Maine for over 30 years, NETECH builds on that foundation to serve the broader New England tech ecosystem, with a stronger emphasis on education, inclusion, and collaboration.

How much does membership cost?
  • Students: Free
  • Individual Members: Free during our first year, then $50 annually
  • Organizational Memberships: Coming soon — stay tuned for tiered options based on size and benefits.
Are all of your programs listed on the site?

Not yet — we’re currently finalizing our initial programming, which will be published soon. New programs will continue to be added throughout the year, so check back regularly or subscribe to our newsletter for updates.

Is NETECH a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization?

NETECH is currently seeking 501(c)(3) nonprofit status. Until our application is approved, donations are not tax-deductible. We will update our community once our status is finalized.

Can companies or organizations sponsor NETECH?

Yes! Sponsorships are a great way to support our mission while gaining visibility in the regional tech community. We offer annual sponsorship packages and event-specific opportunities that align with nonprofit guidelines.

Oracle Database Administrator

Employment Type: This is a full-time position.

Location: Based in the greater Portland, Maine Area

Timeframe: Immediately

Qualifications:

– Oracle/SQL Server application development

– Oracle database administration – patching, upgrade install and support

– UNIX shell scripting, sftp knowledge

– Experience with large databases, in the 5-10 TB range

– Working knowledge of supported platforms, including Linux and Windows Server

– Ability to stay current with Oracle and SQL Server development tools and related technologies

– Ability to provide Oracle and SQL Server application development training and mentoring

– Oracle and SQL Server application and database performance tuning

– Oracle and SQL Server application and database design and sizing

– Ability to work closely with the team to support business growth

– Ability to accurately track and report time spent on assignments

– Commitment to maintaining the integrity of the organization’s efforts

– Microsoft office Excel – Pivot tables

Requirements:

– Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent experience

– At least 3 years of relevant experience, including strong knowledge of Oracle as the primary platform and Microsoft SQL Server as a secondary platform

– Ability to build packages, procedures, and functions using PL/SQL and T/SQL to support application and database development

– Experience with database management tools, utilities, and performance tuning

– Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

– Ability to understand client requirements and translate them into future database features

– Ability to work from the Westbrook, Maine office during training and onboarding, then follow a hybrid schedule with at least two days per week in the office

– Residence within a 120-mile commuting distance of the Westbrook, Maine office

– Microsoft office Excel – Pivot tables

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
