SUMMARY:Monthly Virtual Meetup
DESCRIPTION:Once a month we gather to discuss and build civic technology. \nCurrent active projects: \n\nMaine Ballot (maineballot.org) – The goal of MaineBallot.org is to provide concise\, non-partisan information to make it easy to understand the ballot questions pending in Maine.\nRent Stabilization Calculator – A cost calculator to help tenants understand landlords comply with Portland’s new rent stabilization ordinance.\n\nReady to dive in? Find an issue to work on here: https://github.com/orgs/OpenMaine/projects/7 \nWhat is civic technology?\nCivic technology is the practice of applying rapid prototyping and user centered design to solve civic problems such as voting\, budgeting\, parking\, transit\, community engagement\, etc.\, (to name just a few). Civic technologists believe that government services can be efficient\, equitable\, and open. \nWe are a Code for America brigade. Learn about Code for America’s brigade program here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYzMl_HnEZU \nEveryone is welcome from all backgrounds and skill levels. We suggest bringing a laptop (encouraged\, but not required) if you think you’d like to dive in on a project. We share what we are working on at the beginning of each Meetup and introduce all attendees to our Code of Conduct and meeting style. We then have a short featured speaker and a discussion. Project teams are invited to work after the featured speaker\, if they like. \nSo\, come hack your city! Everyone is welcome. \nTo connect with us outside of the meetings:\n–> From our website: http://openmaine.org\n–> You can find info to sign up with us on Slack\, follow us on Facebook and Twitter\, and get to our GitHub repository. \n\n[Description from organizer’s event page. SUMMARY:DevOps207 MeetUp at Novare Res (Theme: TBD)
DESCRIPTION:We are returning to Novare Res on Tuesday\, March 21 at 6PM (On the third Tuesday – Monthly). \nThis month’s theme TBD. Check back later for more details (at the host organization’s event site). \nThat or just come have a beer or a pretzel and hang out with some fellow IT professionals. These prompts are designed as conversation starters and there’s no obligation to stick to them. \nIf you aren’t a DevOps Engineer but want to be\, this is also a great opportunity to meet some veterans and get some guidance on where to start. \nNovare Res can be kind of tricky to find based on the map pin. I recommend walking down Exchange St. and looking for the sign. \nWe have a private meeting area! When you walk in\, it’s the first door on the left. \nCOVID-19 safety measures: Please stay home if you’re not feeling well or think you may have been exposed to COVID! \n\n[Description from organizer’s event page. Please visit that page for updates.] \n\nHow To Register\n\nContact Organization: DevOps207\nHost / Event Website: https://www.meetup.com/Portland-ME-DevOps/\nEvent Link: https://www.meetup.com/portland-me-devops/events/291189380/
